HOW IT WORKS

Competitions will be offered in Cycling, Basketball, Volleyball and Flag Football, as well as a new Fitness Heptathlon. Compete in up to two sports, plus the Fitness Heptathlon, go for your personal best, then submit your results online from November 1-6! New this season: if you need a virtual Unified partner or a virtual coach, you can request one when you sign up.

Thank you to our Youth Leadership Experience team for leading the charge on Spirit Week! Are you a high school student and want to be a trailblazer for the #InclusionRevolution? Learn how you can get involved with the Virtual Fall Games here.

FAQ

You do not need to qualify to participate. Simply sign up here to let us know you’ll be competing. If you have questions about participating, please call our Athlete Hotline: (206) 681-9378.
In a regular season, athletes are only allowed to compete in one sport at State Games. We have increased the amount of sports one can participate in for the Virtual Fall Games. Limiting the number of sports will further help an athlete and coach develop a more focused training plan.
Not at all. While it is more fun to train with a team and a coach – even if teams can’t be together in person – you can sign up on your own. If you'd like to request a virtual Unified partner or a virtual coach, you can do so when you sign up.
Since the Virtual Fall Games are not like our traditional regional or state competitions, we will not be awarding medals. Each participant will receive a certificate of completion and other participation incentives so join us and start training!
No problem. Check the section for the sport(s) you’re interested in for information on equipment modifications.
Results for each event can be submitted starting Sunday, November 1 through 11:59 p.m. PT on Friay, November 6 in the Submit Your Score section. There, you’ll find instructions on how to transfer the results from your scorecard to the online submission form. If you are unable to submit your results online, you can email your completed scorecard to your Region Manager. No other forms of submissions will be accepted.
Yes! All Special Olympics athletes and Unified partners from around the country and around the world are invited to join us for our Virtual Fall Games.
We strongly encourage you to get the consent of your doctor before participating in any Special Olympics activity however, we will not be requiring a current medical form for the Virtual Fall Games. A medical form will still be required for in-person participation.
Complete an incident report form and send it to your coach, Area Director, or Special Olymnpics Washington staff for submission.
No, in-person participation is not allowed until your county reaches Phase 4. See the Return to Play Timeline to learn about SOWA’s guidelines for returning to in-person participation. Once your county reaches Phase 4, your coach may complete the In-Person Application to apply for in-person participation.
For basketball, flag football and volleyball you may compete in an individual event or a team event:

*Individual Events: Your scores from each skill will be combined to form your final score, which is used to determine your awards placement. You are not required to compete in all skills offered in the sport(s) you chose, however, your final score will be lower and affect your awards placement if you do not participate in all the skills for the individual event you have chosen.

*Team Events: The combined scores from each of your teammates will determine the team’s final score and will be used to determine your team’s awards placement.

For Cycling, you can compete in one (1) individual event and one (1) unified event of different distances, for a total of two (2) events:

*Individual Events: You will be scored separately for each event and awarded accordingly.

*Unified Event: The combined scores from you and your teammate will determine your team’s final score and will be used to determine your team’s awards placement.
We are monitoring and evaluating a number of factors to determine how our Winter season will move forward and will have more to share in the coming weeks.
East Region – Grant Opland
Northwest Region – Nicole Becker
Southwest Region – Stephen Opland
Only athletes within Washington State will be able to request a virtual coach and/or Unified partner.
Athletes within the US are eligible to receive a swag bag and incentives as long as they meet the deadlines and requirements. Athletes outside of the country are only eligible to receive the Virtual Fall Games t-shirt and certificate of participation as long as they meet the deadlines and requirements.
For Virtual Fall Games, we will not be separating tandem bikes vs. single bikes. If you and your Unified partner will be using a tandem bike, simply enter the same time for each participant and add the times to get your total score. (Example: Athlete Time 03:02:00 + Unified Partner Time 03:02:00 = Total Time of 06:04:00)
